They’re great, but usually you check them out after you purchase that dress that looks exactly how you envisioned it in your mind, and at half the price.

Posse helps take away some of the post-purchase remorse. Posse’s up front. All of their pieces are designed in-house in Sydney, Australia. Their production lines are made in India and Bali. When something is shipped, you know at least a little bit more what the country on the tag means. An element of this comes from the transparency on the website. On any given item, the material is listed and location of creation also printed.

Let’s talk money. If you’re going to be investing $200 dollars in a lovely pair of pants, or a top, you need to know that it will be worth it. Here are some things that we’d consider when making that decision to buy from a brand like Posse.

1. When will I wear it? Are you purchasing for your 21st birthday party or a vacation with the girls? If you’re in a tropical place or a cold one, is this piece something that you can use frequently and style up and down for different occasions? If yes, move on.

2. How many ways can I wear it? If you’re buying a bold top, do you have items that you can mix and match it with. Some people suggest creating a basics wardrobe (simple pieces, different neutrals) which can be used to pair with statements that are a little more expensive. The dress from a sustainable supplier is close to 4x the price. Will you forgo multiple dresses in favor of one great one? Yes. Let’s do it.

4. How will I amortize this purchase? Where else can you wear it? The style is always in, it’s a classic piece. Can you pop a blazer on top and wear it to work? What about brunch with the girls? In any event, if you can mix and match it to work for you in different circumstances, that’s the buy for you.

5. What are my values? Everyone has a different set of core principles that they hold dear. While most of us would say “Absolutely, yes!” when asked if we want to save the planet, our clothes are usually the place where we mess up. It’s hard because sustainability has become extremely expensive, and looking good is a priority. But if you’re the kind of person who is looking to stay true to what you believe in, this is a step in the right direction. Do it for you.

6. What am I saving? Sustainable fashion, second-hand buying and slow markets are the only solutions to countering the fast fashion industries and what impending doom they present for the planet and our oceans. We don’t need to stop buying. Our desires will never stop, but what we can do is buy better and change the market for good. Dollar votes matter. You know what? Economics tells us that buying with your ethos will eventually show companies that people only want sustainable things. They will have to change to stay in business. Buy into the future that you want.
