My Story... More than a Resume

creative writer, thinker, professional
Greetings, I’m Teresa! I’m a high spirited individual who is embarking on a journey of growth as diverse as the places I've been fortunate to call home. Growing up as the daughter of a globetrotting professional, my childhood could be plotted with red pins on a map. My father moved our family to Italy when I was a girl. Then, it was nonstop exploration of New York, Panama, Canada, Barbados, and beyond. These experiences crafted my character, making me agile, spontaneous, and endlessly curious about the wonders our world has to offer.
My roots still grow in Hillsborough, NJ, where I began to explore the various paths my life could take. Raising livestock, I developed a passion for showing sheep and dairy goats in local county fairs. This journey led me to a Round Robin competition, where, as the top sheep showman, I found myself showing a massive white cow. Something about the saliva dripping onto my shoulder ignited my fascination for cattle. After a year of persistence, I finally convinced my parents of my responsibility and purchased my first Jersey calf, Kate.
Currently in: Greenville, S.C.

Fueling my ambition, I ventured into dairy quiz bowl competitions, county fairs, and judging competitions. Scaling from local to national platforms, I became the sole out-of-state participant in the prestigious Cornell University Junior Dairy Leaders program. Despite my early inclination towards dairy science, my college path diverged, leading me to pursue a double major in international and public relations at Syracuse University.

My academic journey seamlessly intertwined with hands-on experiences. From a student-run PR firm to internships at an art gallery, a Washington, D.C. nonprofit (L.A.C.E.S.), to my recent role in Aeronautics Communications at Lockheed Martin in Greenville, South Carolina, I embraced every opportunity to learn and grow.
Moving out on my own was filled with a host of challenges, and a niggling feeling that I was scared of–the trial of being completely in charge of my destiny for the first time. In just my first year, I challenged starting graduate school while working full time, encountered changes of direction in my career and have been working diligently to grow as who I am. But, I’ve always believed the road less travelled is the one worth exploring.
I'm starting a new journey at the Hughes Agency, a PR firm in downtown Greenville, where I'll be starting out with three fantastic clients. I'm working to finish my master's degree at Georgetown University. If you ever need to find me, look somewhere at a local library or cafe, and I guarantee that I'll be there either nosed in the newest story I'm writing or with my attention caught in a book.
